Chom Dong Villa and Garden
The Thai medicinal garden was completed in December 2012 and includes herbs and medicinal plants used in traditional Thai medicinal remedies. Some plants of particular interest are those such as Jasminum sambac and Cananga odorata used in the making of the popular ‘ya horm’ which relieves vertigo.
There are also many plants from the ginger (Zingiberaceae) family and various cinnamons. Stevia rebaudiana sweet leaf is a natural sweetener and the roots of the unusual black bat Tacca chantrieri are used to treat hepatitis, high blood pressure and burns.
The sweetly-scented white flowers of the night-blooming jasmine Nyctanthes arbor-tristis with their distinctive orange stems are used in a soothing tisane.
